Thing 5 (again): Digital Storytelling & Presentation Tools

For Thing 25 I am flashing back to Thing 5. It has been two years since I last completed this activity and I noticed many new items on this list that I would like to check out. I am also now working in high school instead of middle school, so I am evaluating these tools through a different lens.

3685256725_759ba87d32_s Photos….how many of us struggle with photo attribution and getting kids to use Creative Commons licensed photos. PhotoPin made it so easy. I spent some time reading the FAQ and about us pages and then tried some searches. The results seemed extensive but my absolute favorite part was the related search terms at the top of the results page. We are encouraging students to be mindful of related search terms and subjects in databases so I appreciate having the related terms when looking for photos. Using those terms I  not only find what I was looking for but actually figure out what I was looking for! This is a tool that will be very useful to our students who write blogs and websites as assignments.

I am super excited that I now have an easy way to locate and attribute photos for my blog posts.

About Kim Nemeth

Hello and welcome to my blog. I am a High School Library Media Specialist in beautiful Saratoga Springs New York. I am an avid reader and am addicted to learning. This blog was originally started as part of the Cool Tools for Schools project in 2012. Since then I have continued to participate in Cool Tools for Schools and add my thoughts here. I found this blog to be an excellent place to refer to when I needed an idea or had a tick mark in my head and needed a reminder. I would love comments and feedback on my posts. Enjoy!
