Thing 7: Podcasting and Screencasting

I really love the idea of podcasting book recommendations for students. We have been very active in using Animoto to create booktrailers and add them to the catalog but podcasting seems much quicker and easier. I am considering  using AudioBoo for small simple projects such as book recommendations but feel Audacity would be better for larger projects and older students as it has many more features.

I loved the simplicity of creating a screen cast using Screenr. Unfortunately, after creating a screencast “How to access Creative Commons images using Google” I was unable to login using my Google account and publish my screencast. I am using hotel WiFi and am hopeful this had something to do with the problem. I’ll have to try again later. This was a simple tool and I enjoyed using it. However, the fact that you are limited to logging in using Twitter, Facebook, Google or Yahoo makes me reluctant to try and use it with my middle school students.

About Kim Nemeth

Hello and welcome to my blog. I am a High School Library Media Specialist in beautiful Saratoga Springs New York. I am an avid reader and am addicted to learning. This blog was originally started as part of the Cool Tools for Schools project in 2012. Since then I have continued to participate in Cool Tools for Schools and add my thoughts here. I found this blog to be an excellent place to refer to when I needed an idea or had a tick mark in my head and needed a reminder. I would love comments and feedback on my posts. Enjoy!
