Confessions of a learning addict

I am Kim Nemeth and I love to learn new things. Especially things that I can use in my middle school library. Did I mention I’ve been a middle school librarian for…… oh……. about 7 weeks now 🙂

I became interested in being a school librarian while working as a middle school computer lab aide. It was then that I began to recognize some fairly cool things about librarians.

  1. Librarians have an amazing network of teachers and other librarians.
  2. They always seem to know the latest and greatest digital tools.
  3. They can answer the strangest questions.
  4.  They have an amazing talent for knowing more about the books on their shelves that most people can imagine.
  5. Librarians need to have A LOT of energy!

WHO WOULDN’T WANT THIS JOB???

About Kim Nemeth

Hello and welcome to my blog. I am a High School Library Media Specialist in beautiful Saratoga Springs New York. I am an avid reader and am addicted to learning. This blog was originally started as part of the Cool Tools for Schools project in 2012. Since then I have continued to participate in Cool Tools for Schools and add my thoughts here. I found this blog to be an excellent place to refer to when I needed an idea or had a tick mark in my head and needed a reminder. I would love comments and feedback on my posts. Enjoy!

I work in a high school computer lab and my librarian sent me this course and wondered if I might be interested, I said sure and am totally enjoying it, even though it took me quite a while to get started, I feel good about continuing and learning.

I’m a Middle/High School librarian who chose a career change after 10 yrs of volunteering for school book fairs. My intent was elementary school librarian, however, due to a job opening and timing, I ended up in MS/HS library feeling rather overwhelmed. I quickly adapted to the fast pace of a very busy library for grades 6 -12, which requires the skills on your list (which made me smile). I love the pace and always learning new technology, although it is a bit intimidating. I’m glad to have this opportunity to learn through cool tools for school.

I love that librarians are always willing to share new ideas without hesitation!

  5. Awesome descripition of Librarians! Congrats on the new job!
